A friendly club whose members bowl regularly both in competition and friendly games. The men play in the Oxford League on Thursday evenings. There is always one friendly game at weekends either a Saturday or a Sunday available to all members, We play approximately 35 games in a bowling season. The season starts the last Saturday in April and finishes the second week in September. Although we do not have any indoor bowling facilities a number of our members play at local indoor clubs during the winter. There are also many opportunities for competitive bowling, whether club, county or National level.
New members are given their first year free. Subsequent to that, present membership rates are £30 for men and £25 for ladies. Members under 16 pay half those rates. After each match there is always a meal and there is a match fee when you play, which at present is £4.
History of our Bowls Club
The club was founded in 1935 by Blue Circle Industries as part of the sporting facilities at the Oxford Cement Works at Shipton Quarry. In 1987 the works was closed and the club was continued by Blue Circle until 1992 when they sold the club to the lessee. The bowls club changed its name to Cotswold Bowls Club in 1994. We are affiliated with both the Oxfordshire County Bowling Association and Bowls England, the national body.
If you would like to visit us to consider bowling with us please contact Ken Brown (Hon. Secretary) on 07884-251300 or email Kenneth.firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a meeting at the club when we can give fuller details.
I can assure you that you will be made very welcome and I have no doubt that you will enjoy bowling at our club very, very much.
