A large Cotswolds house for groups

One house, one party, sixteen people who want to be together.

Tormead House is a six-bedroom Cotswold stone house on seven acres near Tetbury, let on an exclusive-use basis. It has what large groups look for and rarely find in one place: a pool heated all year, a private tennis court, a sauna, a gym, a proper bar, and a town you can walk to for dinner.

Family gatherings

Three generations under one roof, with the bedrooms spread across the house rather than stacked along one corridor, and a dining table that seats everyone at once.

Milestone birthdays

Thirtieths, fortieths, sixtieths and anniversaries. A bar that closes when you decide, a fire pit for the end of the evening, and a chef for the night that matters.

Christmas & New Year

Fires laid, the pool still warm, and a pub walk across the fields. Let as two fixed blocks that book early.

Retreats & off-sites

Full-fibre broadband, a quiet room with a door, three reception rooms and seven private acres. Station transfers from Kemble arranged.

Friends’ weekends

Three nights out of term time, with tennis in the morning, the sauna in the afternoon and nobody having to drive to dinner.

Long lets

Furnished or unfurnished, one month to a year and beyond, for relocations, company lets, renovations and sport, with a manager on site and the amenities included.

Questions

What people ask before they book.

How many guests does Tormead House sleep?
Up to sixteen guests, in six bedrooms with nine beds and three and a half bathrooms. The whole house is let to one party at a time. Cots and extra beds are available by arrangement.
Is the swimming pool heated all year?
Yes. The outdoor pool is heated all year, not just through the summer, and has a cover. It is not gated, so children need supervising.
What facilities are there?
A heated pool, a full-size private tennis court, an indoor sauna, a private gym, a fully fitted bar and seven acres of private grounds. The ground floor and three bedrooms are air conditioned, the broadband is full fibre, and a manager lives on site.
Where is the house?
Long Newnton, on the edge of Tetbury in Gloucestershire. Tetbury is five minutes on foot across the fields. Highgrove, Westonbirt Arboretum and Beaufort Polo Club are five minutes by car; Cirencester, Malmesbury and Kemble station are about ten.
How do we get there from London?
Kemble station is ten minutes away, with direct trains to London Paddington in a little over an hour, roughly hourly. Transfers from the platform can be arranged. Cotswold Airport at Kemble handles private aircraft.
What is the minimum stay?
Three nights in term time and on exeat weekends, seven nights over half term and the summer holidays, and five to seven nights over Christmas and New Year, which are let as two fixed blocks.
Can we hold a celebration or a retreat there?
Yes. Milestone birthdays, anniversaries and family gatherings are what the house is for, and it works well for retreats and off-sites, with full-fibre broadband, a quiet room and a table that seats everyone. Weddings and amplified music are by prior agreement. No stag parties.
Can we rent the house long term?
Yes. Tormead House is available as a long let, furnished or unfurnished, from one month to a year and beyond, including an eleven-month academic-year let. It suits relocating families, company-arranged lets, families between homes during a renovation or insurance move, and players and staff joining a club. Each let is quoted on enquiry.
Are dogs allowed?
No. We are asked often, and the answer is the same for everyone.
How do we book, and what does it cost?
Book direct with the house. Rates depend on the season, the length of stay and the size of the party, so send your dates through the enquiry page or call 07525 614127 and you will have a rate for your exact stay the same day.
